In which I review IDW's latest Transformers Comics #2

A little while ago I took it upon myself to review the first three issues of IDW Comics’ new Transformers series, which effectively did for their TF universe what John Cleese did for Monty Python. Speaking for myself, the sentiment ‘and now for something completely different’ was never more welcome, with the abject mess of the post-All Hail ( Read more... )

Everyone who knows anything about Transformers has heard of him and, more to the point, knows how he will act - namely that if Megatron so much as sneezes, Starscream will jump up and declare himself Decepticon leader.

LJ will be thrilled to hear you're quoting her in your reviews :)

(Also? Her next personal canon story is one you'll very much want to read, so keep an eye on the blog. Advertisement over!)

It's still the best description of their interaction I've ever heard, so how could I not?

OOOooooOOooo. The man teases, he does.

As for Skids, I took the three-in-one skull-faced ship-bots as a gentle homage to UK Skids' post-Galvatron, black-and-white stories era demon problems. Beautifully played, if so.

You know, I'd completely forgotten that. And the annoying thing is, my copy of that comic is in Yorkshire, so I can't immediately rush to the shelf and compare the designs. Beautifully played indeed if that's what they were going for.

... I want a t-shirt that says "Reclaim the Suffix"...

Between that and, 'It appears I even have a motto. Although not a very good one', this comic was loaded with laugh-out-loud moments. Which is a very good sign, no?
