appropriate gift?

I've been working as an intern/volunteer in the cataloging department of an academic library since the end of the summer. It's been a great experience, and definitely solidifies my desire to pursue a career within the cataloging field of library science ( Read more... )

What else do you know about him? Is he a comic reader? What kind of foods does he like? Perhaps something home-baked? How personal do you want the gift to be?

I don't know what your price range is, but here are some good generic suggestions: gift card to a restaurant/cafe/local bookstore, gourmet coffee or tea along with a mug, a library related t-shirt...without knowing what kind of stuff he likes, it's hard to suggest much. Thinkgeek.com might have some nifty stuff.

Mugs are always an awesome gift, maybe you could get one with a literary quote on or something bookish?

Gift card to a local bookstore? Most librarian families (especially ones with children!) always have a bookstore wishlist. :)
