Advice cataloguing a friends collection

Aug 22, 2013 22:39

This seems to be one of the few communities on lj for librarians that hasn't dried up (what happened??). Anyway I've been asked by a friend to catalogue her books. I'd like to download an appropriate database for free or for a small sum. Does anybody have any suggestions. She has a collection of around 2000 books.

There's always evergreen ils. And there's Koha.

We use Evergreen at my library and it's good for what you're wanting to do but not overly intuitive. If you're used to using an ILS you'll figure it out. There's lots of documentation. And I've used Koha in the past, just as a test, so I don't have a lot of experience with it.

Hi everyone. Thanks for your advice. We decided to go with Libarything as she doesn't require, reports, loan function or offline access etc... but it's good to know about the other ils for future reference.
