The Laptop comes with Windows Home Vista.....

Anyone know if I can dump vista off this thing and put Windows XP on?

I know that I will need to wipe the drive clean and have a full version of XP to do this.....then find any missing drivers.....

What should I look for to see if I might have an XP-hardware conflict before I try this?

yea, you probably can downgrade to XP if you need too. You could also shut off a lot of the vista features to make it run faster (like the new interface). But, since this is Vista home basic, it wont actually come with any of those features anyway.

honestly, I think you can do better than this laptop. I don't know why your buying a laptop but torcha's laptop probably nicer than this and cost less. A bit of digging might be in order.

well it was on sale for under 500 bucks. I dont have a link handy and I dont even know if you can buy it anymore.

there are a ton of different processors in laptops right now. Its well worth doing some research into what you are buying but be warned, a ton of them look very similar (like the core duo vs the core 2 duo) but aren't when it comes down to it. I might be able to help but I would need to know what your laptop needs are.
