Hello Everyone!

I am so happy to have found this community while researching library schools! I'm hoping to enroll next fall, but I've heard that contacting a professor before applying is crucial. Would anyone be able to confirm whether or not this is true? (Especially anyone who went to Syracuse University!)

(Thanks in advance, all!)

Didn't do that, and got into UNC-CH and, IIRC, Syracuse and UIUC.

It certainly wasn't necessary when I went to the University of Alberta

I didn't do this for Rutgers or Drexel.

I feel like contacting a professor before applying is more of a thesis/research-based program thing (especially in the sciences, where you're often expected to have a supervisor and project lined up at the time of application, whereas in humanities they often assign one to you based on your research interests).

I didn't do this for any of the library schools I applied to, and was accepted. I wouldn't worry about it.

As an SU alum, I can say-- Nope, not really. Feel free to look at the course offerings and whether they are the kind of thing you are interested in. Be very very sure, because SU is pretty expensive :-) Good luck!
