Billy

The smile went right through him. Like sunrise, piercing, burning - but it didn’t hurt until he realized it wasn’t for him.

Starsky stopped in his tracks, beaming, and Hutch stopped with him, confused.

“Billy!”

A man who’d just passed them - young, brown-haired, handsome - turned around, spotted his partner, and broke into his own sunshine ( Read more... )

I went through like 10 fonts. Is this one legible? It looked OK to me. Is it too big?

(That story's close to being done so I thought I'd give myself a nudge)

I don't think I'm in the majority of your readership, since I'm still fairly young and my eyes haven't gone all wonky yet ;) To me, the font's slightly larger than my own personal preferences (I like fairly small, clean/san-serif type), but I think most people will find it fairly easy to read, size-wise.

On the other hand, the leading (vertical space between lines) looks a bit tight to me. The lower-serifs from the top lines nearly overlap with the upper-serifs from the lines under them, and might make things appear to mush together for some people. Any way you could fix this?

Yeah, that's the old LJ problem. The leading's fine in Word, but LJ either wants to turn it all into boring, crappy, no-indent double-return sans-serif personalityless fonts, or it deforms it like you see. That's what drives me crazy. I try to compromise between my own preferences (medium serif font that's clean) and LJ's boring crappy preferences - so people can read it easily and I don't hate it - and LJ sabotages me. The bastards! Keelhaul them! (In honor of "Talk Like a Pirate LJ")
