I was watching the news before going to bed last night and it said something that infuriated me:
If the government shuts down, government officials (ie Senators, Congressmen, etc) will still get paid but military personnel (y'know, the people out there putting their asses in the line of fire for us) will not get paid until this is settled.

Next time a liberal friend/relative asks me why conservatives are so bitter about the government and want to see it shrink, I will simply use the above fact as my explanation. -_-

Seriously, if they think that shutting down the government is necessary, they should have the balls to put their money where their mouths are (literally!) and take a pay cut for the cause. I would actually respect them if they were willing to do that! Besides, it's not like most senators and congressmen are just one paycheck away from homelessness.

In addition to the whole "risking death for their country" thing, soldiers also have ZERO say in this matter. So it's completely unfair for them to lose money just because some rich Democrats want to soapbox (while still recieving THEIR f**king paychecks and benefits).
