Solar started a Raven mask for burning man using the same paper/resin approach.

He did a card stock base. Then covered it in tape to stiffen it more.
*problem - it was still too floppy. Either a support need to be used or lots of temporary cross strutting needed to be added.

We coated it in resin and let that set up for about a half hour.
Then while it was still tacky layered the cheese cloth down.
This was a HUGE improvement. The half cured resin was sticky enough to grip the cheese cloth but not too gooey to work with.
Then another layer of resin was sponged over the cloth.
*problem - again too floppy a base, it tended to warp out of shape under the weight.
He only coated the front. He can do the back later, more for smoothness and sealing then strength.

Next bondo, sand, primer, repeat.
