As someone who has recently dealt with lighting (LEDs and traditional) using a programmable DMX controller board...they're actually worth it because you can control so many things using DMX...lights, fogs, MIDI, lasers! The DMX boards are not that expensive if you're doing simple single channel setups.
Good point. I was mostly thinking that with the DMX remote and wires and such it pushes the fogger up to almost 4x's the cost of the lower unit. For only 25% more output. (not that the next unit up is bad, just that the base unit is a really good value)
Right now I am focusing on getting a lot of small foggers to try to ring the property in fog. See if that will compensate for the for fogging outdoors. Not mater what I try the wind never cooperates.
Later on I would love to have a full automated set up with multiple foggers, effects and LED lighting. But all of that is $$$.
