I need YOUR opinion

OK, so I'm about to teach this unit out of my text book...it's about inviting people over and how to accept and decline invitations.  HOWEVER!  For some STUPID reason half this unit is about how Americans wear their shoes indoors, all day.  I don't know about you, but I do not know ANY one who wears their shoes indoors....some my have indoor shoes ( Read more... )

Most people in the States leave their shoes on all the time. When you go to someone else's house, you mostly leave your shoes on, unless you are very close friends and you prefer shoes off, but you would still ask if it's OK to take your shoes off (I am not kidding!). I prefer to take my shoes off, but there are definitely houses where that would not be appropriate and I would not ask! (It would be too informal.)

Sometimes, if the host is wearing no shoes, Americans will ask if they should take their shoes off, but not everyone does ask (we do not wear shoes in our house -- never did, even before we moved to Canada).
