Things to point out.

I'm pretty sure the stars of Star Trek had no control over who wrote what about their characters when the very first fanfic was written.

I'm pretty sure the stars of Lord of the Rings, Glee, Lost, Heroes, and Pirates of the Carribean still have no control over who writes what about their characters.

Hit TV Shows and Movies have no limitations on what ( Read more... )

Yeah, that blurring has bothered me ever since I joined the fandom, to be quite honest. :/ I mean, I"m still going to be nice, but...

The line IS too blurred, and I've known that for a while. I've said a few times that if it wasn't for you and Dodger and co. I'd have bailed ages ago. I'm still tempted to, most of the time.

It's manipulative and overreaching and unfair, even when you DO know the whole reason behind it.

Is there any way that we could make the line more solid again? I can't think of any that wouldn't make me sound like a total bitch. :/

Yeah. There's no way to fix it, even if we tore everything to the ground and started over. The cracks in the fourth wall really should have been repaired before it got to this point, but there's nothing to do about it now.

I dont mind if they turn round like Nash and Cin (he was writen in a crossover with Oan, so that were it came from) Ask for stuff in general like No non-con, no het/sex of any kind.

I feel something like Liz's is too far. I understand why but at the same time its stange, but then again I donr think the line is going to be unblurred :/

I found a quote a while back from the Executive producer of Due South. Not a show I've ever heard of but apparently it either has or had a huge fandom.

"I suppose the character is public ground. If you're willing to bring it into people's houses every week, the [fans] are entitled to certain liberties, where ever their imagination is carried by those characters."

This has pretty much been my attitude towards fanfic. You put the character out there people will be inspired to write whatever it is they want. The only action you can really take to stop it is legal action. *coughannericecough*
