England's name + Britpicking

Point the first! Even though his full name is, well, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, everyone in canon refers to him just as England. Partly because that's what the Japanese do, and also partly because some of the strips take place before the UK exists. Mostly, though, because it seems he really is just England, being a ( Read more... )

F-first comment? I feel kind of bad to be doing this when I'm not British either, but I noticed in your threads with sick!America and Canada, England is calling them. Well. "Sick." And I'm fairly sure British English tends to use the word "ill" in that context, instead, because "getting sick" means "throwing up."

Also I noticed some American spellings (like "behavior") in [typed] comments which I know is really easy to slip up with and I do it all the time

T-THAT IS ALL. I NOTICE BECAUSE I STALK. ♥

Thanks honey! That's actually something I noticed myself while threading and made a mental note. Good to have something to back it up.

And oh yes, the spelling. Sigh.

I can't see you in chan so I can't give you a heads up on this! But Cadbury chocolate is kind of analogous to Hershey Kisses. IT IS NOT A GOOD BRAND AT ALL XD.

But it is super cheap and not bad for the price, which is why it is the favoured binge product of miserable uni students.

Haha, I know this! Thanks for giving me a heads-up anyway. We have Cadbury's here too, so. And America canonically loves Hershey's, sooo...

Cadbury's is the most foul tasting thing on earth.

(and that's coming from an English person. We have no sense of taste D:)

you know I'm not entirely sure what's going on, having only just stumbled across this journal, but I've got some advice for you if you're gonna be doing text-based roleplay as Arthur.

Always say "mum" not "mom", always spell it "favourite" with a "u", same goes for "colour". We say "fizzy drink", not soda, and we swear far too much. At least, that's my own observation. xD

And this http://www.peevish.co.uk/slang/a.htm is possibly one of the best dictionaries of English slang I've come across. :3

Srsly I have no idea what this post is about but I thought I might be able to help, being an Arthurian and all...

Haha, thank you. I have actually been using that slang dictionary and have been watching my spelling. The thing I know I need to do is swear more often, because I know England does and I'm simply not using to swearing that much!

Thank you for wanting to help, though. I appreciate it!
