So there are two shepherds and soon to be more "monsters".

Is this normally how these proceed?

No idea. My first game as well, but I'm guessing it's not, seeing as how Alfred said he ran a game with Ludwig once. I doubt they would have do something involving monsters. But more than one shepherd isn't a surprise.
