So . . .

Should I apply to a maid cafe in Akihabara looking for foreign maids? I have my own list of pros and cons, but I'd like perspective.

Definitely. If you don't like it, quit, but you'd definitely have everyone beat in never-have-I-ever... :P

A very good point. One of my concerns is money though - if it 'doesn't work out.' it might actually put me in the hole...

YES AGH. I would so be there but I have damn school to finish. AAGH. Maybe if the application process takes a long time or something I could apply now and then scurry over after school is done.

But yes. What wouldn't rock about working and living in Japan? And working as a super cute, awesome, adorable maid no less! Sweeeeet!

ARG! We should both go to-getha! Then we could come back and totally have our own and it would be awesome with Karaoke and a purikura booth and Loli boutique! WAAAAH! WHEN ARE YOU DONE!!!!?

But maybe other maid cafes will catch on and it will be a trend and there will be more ones hiring desperately then! ARGH!

Well, they'll be clean until I sell them for UFO catcher money. Those things are addictive.

This is also something I was thinking: people I know here in the States would totally have an excuse to go to Japan or just a maid cafe in Akiba. And they'd get star treatment.

Oh, my ...

My gut reaction is to say "go for it" - on the theory that you're only going to get a limited shot at this, and are more likely to regret it if you don't than if you do.

Secondly, shikamachu wants to apply, too.

Thirdly, that would mean two good reasons for me to visit Japan again. Oh, the horror. ;-)

Yeah - I can see her doing it too! You know those lolcat pictures that say 'want'? Yeah, that's me, and I'm kinda thinking I'll beat myself up forever if I don't try.
