Well, if you all didn't know or hadn't guessed, I'm back in VA for all of a week before I fly out to Shanghai, where I will be staying for a few weeks until I go to Beijing

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAMI! I've taken a half day off of work so I could deal with the inevitable Friday traffic and get up your way for the BBQ! Is there anything in particular that would make your trip to China better? I wonder since just about everything is made in China these days if there is something particularly American I can get you for you long stay that isn't generally available there.

Well, I've gottem ,ost of what I need except adapter plugs that will work in China and maybe a compact English grammar book. But I could get those.

I don't have tons of space for stuff in my luggage, but if there's something you want to get me that's nice and small, I won't stop you!

I really wish I could go -- but because I've been edging towards a relapse, I'm taking the train up Thursday (safer than driving myself; I've gotten a bit worried). I feel really bad for not being able to go. -_- But I shall make it up to you somehow ... and as I've got your Skype info, we can at least chat once you're settled. And then I can make more weepy apologies. T_T
