since writing a sestina is THE HARDEST SHIT EVER, i'm going to take a break and write about my trip to seattle.

I left off Sunday?

It was very rainy and gross. To be expected. Kelly, Rachel and I decided to wander around seattle a little more that day because we were highly disoriented when we arrived on Sunday. So we wandered.

Here are Kelly and Rachel only because I made them take a pic because I didn’t have any with people in them yet.

This one is for the ‘rents. Shit, I need to email them these photos. Uuuuuuuuuugh. i'm wearing aaron's hat because i didn't have one of my own and he made me take it/i took it from his car. rachel brought one for me but it squeezed my head. so i wore aaron's instead and kelly goes, "you look like a dock worker". man, i look fat in this. i was wearing several layers.

Here are my travel partners hiking up a very steep hill.

Obviously it made sense, but I loved that the buildings had to adapt to the steep hills

we saw this weird art. There’s a lot of public art in the city and it’s awesome. This umbrella blew around in a circle.

Right before we were about to enter the world famous pike place market, these runners jogged past us. It was rather cold, I’m not sure what they were thinking. But I guess, when you gotta go you gotta go.

I made them pose a lot

Tah daaah! I was wondering what the marketplace would be like because I’ve heard about it all over the food network and from other people but we drove past it like 8 times before we realized that this was it.

The view going into PP market

This was kind of taken on accident. Well, I wanted a picture of the inside but I didn’t want to look like an obnoxious tourist or anything so I tried to take it all stealth like but then my stupid flash went off.

More of PP market but underground

random squid art inside the market. i wanted it.

Steep hill walking the opposite way

I would NOT want to get into/out of those parking spaces.

as we were walking to the place kelly wanted to eat for lunch, there were random duck feet in the ground. the seattle airport had fish in the floor and pike place market had golden pig feet. who knows.

ordering at Ivar's fish bar. i wanted to be obnoxious and like a paparazzi but kelly was confused. rachel and i thought it was hilarious and a good idea to get pics of the whole experience including kelly ordering fried fish.

you could eat in this little glass room next to the bar and apparently could feed/play with the gulls. this one reminded me of the birds

lolz

getting more pictures of the experience. we hadn't eaten all day and i was planning on getting thai with rachel but we hadn't yet so we just drooled over kelly's fried cod.

and then she had this terrible hat hair and had to wear it for the rest of the day.

kelly bought some beers at a special grocery store and we had some tastes. i got a little drunken. i was okay with the ginger beer, but shark attack, as cool as the name is, def didn't work with me.

this was the view from outside the alexis.

here is a blurry picture of what we did most of the time in the alexis, laying in the World's Most Comfortable Bed internetting and watching food network.

this was right outside our bathroom. i want it. it looks like something that would be inside jordan's mom's house because she likes weird art like this. or beth's house.

our not free gifts. mmmm 8 dollar water.

ridic expensive mini fridge shot. 8 dollar tiny liquors, anyone?

then we drove to a restaurant/brewery for dinner. it made it's own beer which was awesomez. i was a little drunk from shark attack still but i managed to hold it in and order a turkey panini and devour it in 11 seconds while my travel companions ordered a sampler and i stole tastes. this is where i learned i LOVE porter. yummmmmmmmmmmm.

then we all passed out in our World's Most Comfortable Beds very early. there were ghost noises but i was the only one awake to witness them. i thought about looking up to see if the alexis was haunted but knew i would be too freaked out if i read that it was. they thankfully weren't there the next night.

TUESDAY!!!

WE GOT SUN!!! i was highly confused/pleased with it so i took like 234 pictures of the same thing.

those are all i will provide for you.

then we decided to have some more walks around the city. here is some seattle sun and first street.

here is kelly's reaction to me requesting to take her pic.

rachel was a nice participant, though.

ahhh! THEN IT WAS TIME FOR THE LIBRARY!!! it's that weird glass building.

LOTS of steep walking. not easy when you're weighed down by like 9 fleeces and a hoodie and your boyfriend's dock worker hat and a messenger bag filled with random crap. i know this from experience.

look at how crazy!!! they just decided they wanted to build a kick ass library. yay for the architect! i started to read an article about him but never finished.

this is the reading room!

more reading room. and this was after we went up escalators. the damn place had 10 floors.

you can use computers right next to the weird overhang!

kelly sitting in a really cool chair in the "teen" section. it was filled with animae.

check it yayuhhh

animae

way cool escalators!

kelly wishing she wasn't my sister

i like that the escalators are labeled like we don't know what they are.

kelly made rachel ride this so she could get a pic

if i look giddy it's because i was. i love libraries and this one just owned.

this shit never ended.

okay even more. god i uploaded a lot of photos just of the escalators.
i'm tired of writing that word!

while on the ride up you could see into other floors where books and various things were held

this was opened up to another reading/work room

i feel like i wouldn't be able to get any work done the first few times coming here becuase i'd be too busy looking around.

rachel had some sits on the weird chair.

more random overhang

overhanging.

i'm very pleased with this picture and wish it was me in it. this was floor 10.

then i realized on the apartment building next to us, there was a garden. kelly guessed it was for cooling and for dog peeing. i took like 5 photos of it for some reason, too.

someone's office, i think. badass office but you totally couldn't dick around and play solitare too often without someone seeing you.

this is overlooking from the top floor to the second. i was so nervous i would drop my camera here. so, naturally, i gave it to kelly. sweaty hand queen. thankfully, it's still in my posession.

more offices?

the ceiling was this weird and cushioned

the roof!

finally we headed down but stopped to listen to a tour for a second. a TOUR of the LIBRARY.

while riding back down, i noticed the floor was labeled, which was way cool/helpful

mag

random elevator waiting

more pictures of that damn grassy apt building

i loved the buttons for the elevator!

words were carved into the floor

we then missed the all red meeting room floor so we went back. even the elevator is pimped out!

for some reason they decided to have an all red meeting room floor. it had weird bubble shaped windows and was very dark and surreal.

and then finally, we left for good. i feel like providing you with this picture of rachel adjusting the scarf she stole from kelly. it even says "kelly" on it.

while walking back, i saw this cool building. i was weirdly obsessed with buildings this trip.

then, it was time to go to the area near the university of washington and R.E.I.

more weird seattle architecture

they had tunnels! i love tunnels.

i never found out what this body of water we drove over was. it was pretty though

here is some not downtown seattle for you

wooo!

here is their football stadium. it overlooks the water. nice.

what were they? the huskies?

we almost ran over this man

though it was heavily graffitied, at least it was pictures and not boring names

look! another library!

more not downtown seattle

space needle! i kind of wanted to go, but tickets were 16 bucks and i/we were cheap. i got over it. the library was probably totally way cooler anyway.

more needle. for those of you that do not know, it was put in seattle for the world's fair in 1962.

a bad picture of the skyline

hey look, more needle!

R.E.I. was this weird ridicuslous giant warehouse that held all the camping supplies one could ever want. i wandered around aimlessly while kelly and rachel actually looked at things with a purpose. when we walked to the entrance and were greeted with this, rachel goes, "it feels like we're going into a ski lodge". there was also this ridic giant rock wall to climb in the entrance. totally normal.

they wanted a picture by the ridiculous water feather and argued too much about their hair so i took a candid and yelled at them.

after we wandered and didn't buy anything, they tried again and achieved.

then, back to pike place!

here is the heavily populated street in front of it. and the side of kelly's head.

more art! this thing moved. it was creepy. i also wanted to go into the art museum but we were partial to things that were free.

we came back to the room but "annie" was cleaning our room so we waited for a bit. rachel read the new york times while kelly played tetris on her phone. i took pictures.

want this. just want to live at the alexis.

they were dog friendly! most of seattle seemed to be, actually. even the first day, we were in a grocery store and some chick just walked in her with dog. just like that.

kelly playing tetris. i tried my hand at it and found i am TERRIBLE at tetris. i'm okay with that.

then, we showered, rested, drank some DELICIOUS PORTER CALLED BLACK BOSS. YUM. i got drunk off of it by just like smelling it. it had 9.4% of alcohol in it. I LOVE BLACK BOSS. i want like a crate of it for my Bday.

kelly and rachel went out on el date while i got to-go sushi (OH MY GOD SOOO GOOD. salmon, cream cheese, tempuraed avocado, eel, and then the WHOLE THING was tempuraed. it couldn't have been a better roll) and did homework/watched the amazing race on kelly's computer/took pictures of outside/talked to aaron/watched a terrible disney channel movie. oh yeah, it was st. patty's day. hey, i got drunk for the first time ever on st. p's day! hey!

there was some sort of bike shop?/art studio? directly across from us. a guy rode a bike around the room for a while and i secretly watched.

there were some bagpipe noises later and i thought maybe i'd see some sort of st. patty's day parade, but alas, i was mistaken.

kelly and rachel came back from their dinner and we drove to the not downtown seattle part of the city to meet up with rachel's old roommate. i had met her like once but we got food/drinks with them and talked for a while. it was fun. oh, on the way, we saw this weird ass building that involved a terrible pedestal. it looks like a topiary. who thought this was a good idea?

anyway, i should function. i really need to not waste any time this week like at all. but here i am. whoops.

vancouver in the next post! yay!
