I notice thanks to Nathan Fillion via rhube that Richard Castle's new book Heat Wave is available for pre-order on Amazon.

My head hurts.

(If you're not watching Castle then I recommend that you start.)

Alas, I couldn't get into Castle - despite the Fillion, I found his character too annoying. Glad to have been of service to you, though!

My problem with Castle as written initially was that his character, sure, was a sleazy dick (that was my problem with him, anyway!) but I just found that Nathan Fillion just had too much charisma to make his sleaziness convincing - I just thought he was too... nice! Particularly with the interplay with his daughter; he is very much a good All-American dad.

I think that over time the writers have made him a bit more of a genuine nice guy. Not to say that you should try it or force yourself to watch through til my alleged 'better' characterization, just what I've found as the series has gone on.

I've heard snippets about Castle. Is it compelling-must-watch good, or just pass-the-time good?

It's Bones-level good. So, plots don't always make sense, but the interplay between Castle and Beckett is good fun.

Ah, Castle is great. Did you see last week's episode? With his awesome Halloween costume?

Yep =) Firefly and Buffy in one episode! I'm just surprised they didn't have Summer Glau guest-starring :P
