Whew, it's been a little while. Let's see...
Thursday I got to help out one of my coworkers. She's a great friend too. She had this party thing to go to at her mom's house, and asked me to help her make bread. So of course I did. It was really fun, too. I haven't made real bread in a long time. She just kept saying how awesome I was for helping her, and I was like, dude... at least I get to put this $20,000 education to SOME use. So yay for that, the bread turned out really nicely and she was very happy.
Brandon's interview with the union is next Tuesday at 4. We got him a nice new shirt and some decent-looking plain black shoes at Target yesterday. I am SO ready for him to get in the union. I'm excited for him too, he's really looking forward to it, to going back to school and learning how to do something for a living. Plus starting out as an apprentice he'll be making $4 more an hour than he is now, and getting twice as many hours per week. Score! He's just going to go straight there after work (3 hour leeway, he'd better not be a minute late) and I'm going to meet him afterward and take him home. I don't think he'll be in there for too long. I'm hoping it's more of a "Well this is when you start, be here at this time not a second late, bring this and that." type of deal. He also was saying that he has an option to do a welding class to cut some time off the apprenticeship. It'll be 6 weeks 40 hours a week, and with no pay. So of course he's worried about the money. I just told him, hey we made it 6 weeks with you unemployed before, it's not going to be a big deal. We both have parents that can give us money if we need it, and plus I have fantastic credit, if we need to we can take out a line of credit with the bank. And besides, that 6 week class would cut a year and a half off his 5 year apprenticeship. Hello, common sense??
My niece turns one year old on Monday. So today we are having her party. I got her socks (at her mother's request), and also a super cute little sweater, it's a black and cream striped cardigan. I really think Michelle will like it. It's certainly to MY taste!
We finally got the new windows in the lobby here at work. I've been asking for them since I started 11 months ago. My hands are no longer two different temperatures from one being by the window! After a morning of hardcore mousing, I would try to write something and barely be able to bend my poor fingers haha. Not to mention they look a million times better than the old aluminum double-paned pieces of garbage with condensation trapped in them.
I ordered something frivolous online Monday night and it should be coming to work today :D I'm really excited for it. It's just hair stuff, cell rebuilder, made for horses but all the best hair stuff is. It's approved for human use too. I checked reviews online, and it's supposed to make your hair grow up to 50% faster. Which will be excellent. Mine is so stupid looking right now. I guess that's what I get for getting mad at Brandon and chopping it all off. It's just long enough now to get in my face and piss me off. So hopefully this stuff works. I'm hoping it'll make my hair stronger too, it's always been really thin and falls out easily. The weird thing is though, that the money came out of my account when I ordered it... and then a couple days later it went back INTO my account. It didn't even say anything. It just magically reappeared. It didn't say refund, nothing. It actually just doesn't even show it ever coming OUT of my account. I tracked my package, and it's in Portland now, so it's not like they were backordered and canceled it or anything either. I'm just not going to spend that money and wait for it to correct itself again.
Working today 2am-10am. Giving the glorious graveyard people their night off. We have two people that cover graveyard 7 nights a week, and they are a married couple... so they pretty much never get time off. So I wrote the schedule this month to give them every other weekend a night off, whereas previously we just gave them one night a month. They are some fantastic people though so they completely and totally deserve it. I'm just glad we figured out the hours so they aren't losing any when they get the night off.
So I'm just kind of lonely and bored. Haha.
I decided to start riding my bike to work. I only live 1.3 miles away so it's not really all that far. I could get here in 15-20 minutes on my bike. I didn't ride it today though because Brandon doesn't want me riding my bike at 2am. But tomorrow I shall. I have only done it one day so far, I thought I was absolutely going to DIE. I'm so out of shape. I may be skinny, but god... I had to take two breaks on the way here, to sit on the side of the road and wheeze. It's only 1.3 miles!!! So hopefully soon it will be a piece of cake. If we're going to burning man this year (god help me), I have to be in better shape.
Speaking of which, the only way anyone is getting me to go to burning man this year is if we can rent an RV. And to do that, we need to collect around $2,500 for the entire rental and gas money. Oh lordy lordy. But it would be totally worth it. I'm sure we could get everyone else to pitch in a little bit. The 10 hour dust storms and the neighbors with the generators that they ran ALL DAY so you couldn't get any sleep, and the rave next door that ran ALL NIGHT so you couldn't get any sleep... I think with adequate shelter it would all be solved. There is a LITTLE bit more noise protection and dust protection in an RV than with a few thin layers of tent. But that $2,500 is for the RV alone... I'd have to get another bike from Craigslist (I'm not bringing my $750 bike to burning man for it to get destroyed/dust-covered/stolen), we'd have to buy the tickets, get food, water, etc... I just don't know. We'll see. We've lived on so little cash lately, that I think as soon as Brandon starts his new job we can put a LOT of that money away in my savings account. The whole no contact with the outside world, no job responsibilities, no set schedule to do anything, not having to answer to anyone but myself thing was really super awesome for a week. It's definitely a good vacation from reality.
2.5 hours down, 5.5 to go. BOOOORED!!!! I wish someone would get online or something at least -_- my yahoo name is life.0n_mars if anyone wants to add me. I have it on all morning at work until about 9:45 usually. Okay congrats if you've read this whole thing. Back to staring at the wall.
