The Rich Dolts Aren't the Only Ones to Blame ex_bela August 9 2005, 05:16:27 UTC
It's sad but true, of course. It seems this generation has decided to sit back and wait for the "greatest transfer of wealth in history" they keep hearing about. I don't have the heart to tell them that early retirement, longer life expectancies and attendant health care costs will probably erase much of that "transfer".
Think what could happen. All the bubbles mentioned above would go *pop*, the middle class would vanish and North America would be plunged into an economic catastrophe that would make the Great Depression look like good times.
Something to look forward to, don't you think?

I marvel at the post-WWII Europeans who came to Canada, saved every extra dime they earned and shipped their kids to university. Twenty-five years later, the south and east Asians arrived, saved every extra dime they earned and shipped their kids to university.

I know it's a bit late but I dig the Gary Numan reference.
