Hey Joe, what do you know?

Today, my friends, was a glorious day. Today was the day when this young remarkable boy was born, taking the world by storm. The mention of his name would make any woman giddy...and oh to be the object of his gaze, well, no one dares to go that far, for it is too deadly (though I'll gladly take that risk).

Happy 32nd Birthday Mr. Juuude Law.

It lived up to my expectation higher than I've expected. I can't imagine anyone playing Ada except for Nicole now that I've seen her performance. Nicole delivered the exact flexibility that Ada's in-depth character needed. I've always been nervous about great novels being adapted to screens...just cause I'm so protective of those great writings. Anthony Minghella, a director who I respect, didn't disappoint me at all. I really like how Minghella understood all those novels that he had adapted previously, and how he had this incredible ability to bring them to life. He would take something from one sentence within the book, and give life to it. The many details he adsorbed with his meticulous attention are what made his films not offending to the novels he chose to adapt. I was a little disappointed by the alternated ending. It wasn’t a big change, but Charles Frazier created such a beautiful ending, and to see it slightly altered, irritated me a little. If the book didn’t exist however, I may have thought better of it.

Oh, and yes, there was also this certain someone that has made this film more spectacular. I don't even want to go into it cause I'll be then writing a fuckin' essay. To sum it up: Jude is Inman.

It was delightful...and loved everyone in it. I never thought bathtub scenes were romantic, just cause they're so mundane to me. But to be fully clothed in a bathtub...is romantic. Well, ok, I saw something like this in Mimic, so I guess it was the way Burton had shot the sequence of it...still. The ending was one of the best I've seen this year...it ended just right.

The only thing that ruined this whole experience was when I saw these two middle-aged adults making out right when everyone was exiting the theatre. Ok, this movie didn't even set the appropriate mood for that, especially the ending. It was not necessary, and no one wanted to see that. They were right beside the freakin' aisle! The hell was that shit??!

I've been on this DVD splurge lately....especially those Special Edition ones! Gaaah, and all the films that I want have that! It's eeeeeevil. Unfortunately, hanging out in NYC requires a lot of expenses, thus, instead of just getting my splurge over with, I'm threatened with the temptation. Damn being a college student. It sux. Big time. You know it.
