MUSIC SHARING COMM.?

Sep 24, 2005 16:16

i'm thinking about opening a music sharing community, where songs and full albums can be uploaded by members and downloaded/traded with other members. there are a few already around, and i think it's a really fabulous concept. the main purpose is for all the musically-constipated kids out there wanting something new to extend their musical tastes. I think that's a very, very good idea. I run a Star Wars icon community, which has loads of members, I believe 700+, but I haven't had any real problems so far, so about the moderating this... although I guess Star Wars people behave very well?

But the whole 'any kind of music' thing sounds fantastic. I think you should do it! Although original ideas for themes are quite hard to think of.. I'm trying!

you star wars kids are everywhere!, heh. and the ideas don't just have to come in the form of themes, but anything really, that would make the comm. stand out, or would make it more useful, efficient, enjoyable, cool, etc. you know what's lame? i'd get all sad if only five people joined. i'd want it to be heaps successful.

you'd have to do lots of promotion in TONS of communities and affiliate with other music blogs, and urge members to plug the community in their journals or communities.. i'm pretty sure that with a huge promotion campaign it very well could work!

but what would make it stand out huh, i really wouldn't know. you'd have to look at other music blogs and see what they have and how they go about things and see what you can do differently?

and yes, star wars kids are all over the place ;)

I'm down, I'm sure someone will want at least one of my albums. Even if I have 1781 albums on my computer *mp3 whore*

several things:

a) 93 gigs? colour me impressed, sir. what kind of genres do you dig?
b) i would be kind of honoured if you joined something like this if i ever get around to it, or something equally cliche. i have a hunch you might have a clue what "good music" is.
c) 93 GIGS?

that is all.

A)Music is what I know. I know what "good music" is.

B)I dig all types of genres.
Rock, Electro, Industrial, Metal, Hip Hop(none of that bling music, more of the underground scene) Rap, Dj stuff, Jazz, Basically everything.

C) 93 gigs, I know. Most people are impressed by it. My David Bowie collection is 2 gig alone.

What can I say? music is the Equivalent of god to a born-again christian to me.
