Dollhouse

Excited and disappointed for Dollhouse. The idea is even cooler in practice than it is on storyboard. The execution of said idea will hopefully improve. For an opening episode, they made it way too patchy. They brought in way too many ideas at once. For one thing, they should have waited an episode to introduce Paul. He ended up with a really ( Read more... )

I think the show is going to continue to rely heavily on subtext, which is ok, but they are going to lose some audience that way. They introduced Paul in the first episode (I think) because a lot of people are familiar with and really like that actor. The intro was weird, but so is the show. =P

I completely agree that the episode was too heavy for the opening, they would have been ok except for the child abuse, and I really think that pushed it over the edge into 'too much'. A slightly slower opening with a little more explanation would have been great. Alas! The second episode is supposed to be really fantastic though, so we'll see.

Verbal banter would have been out of place in this show, I'm really glad he didn't put it in as much as he's done in other shows. There were funny spots without making it too cheesy/silly. And I wouldn't necessarily say it characterizes his TV shows, how far into Buffy are you? The show gets heavy and much less cheery. Angel is screaming its way along to heavy/dark land too ( ... )

Not banter necessarily - but at least an intelligent script. Whedon is excellent at individualizing people with the way they speak, and everyone in this show kind of seemed as non-different as your standard soap opera character.

Meh - I've never found sex or smooching scenes particularly appealing to watch. I'm sure it's fun, but as far as viewing it goes, I kind of find it both as boring as watching someone eat and as mildly repulsive as watching someone use the bathroom.

I missed last Friday - how was it?

Meh, I still disagree re-words/talking/characterization, but whatever... =P

Smooching scenes are hit and miss in my book, dependent on my mood and how believable the scene is. And I don't make watching people go to the bathroom a part of my daily life, so I'm afraid I can't comment on that. ~amused look~

I have no idea, we still haven't had time to watch it yet. It's been a busy dress week.

Neither do I make watching sex/smooching a part of my daily life - so I stand by my metaphor :p
