Being in NY has really taught me that to succeed you need talent and brains. Both of which you have. You'll succeed if your a smart actor. Josh Radner told me that. And now he's on a hit television series and star of the best new play I've seen here.
I feel the exact same way as you do. I love theatre and I love film - I want to be in both. But a lot of times I worry if I'll ever succeed in this industry. We just need to make the connections, keep our eyes/ears open for new chances, and keep working hard. I believe that people will recognize our work and reward us for it.
For what it's worth, I think that you're on the right track...you're already trying to work out what you want your future to be like. That said, you have the huge advantage of two more years of college life to play around with plans. Keep that up and you'll find your way sooner than most.
As far as not being able to pursue your dreams and maintain a good relationship (that's what I took "love" to mean), that two years is again going to be in your favor. You have that time to establish a really solid relationship and to try to find a compromise that can enable both of your goals. I'm not sure what AB wants to be when he grows up, but if it's still teaching or acting then y'all are set. He could get his teaching certificate or Doctorate from some sweet CA university and you can start to establish yourself in the LA acting soup. Or you could go on to star together in a scripted reality show.
Sorry this was so long. Your's was a very striking post, one which I still have a lot more to say about. Be well.

I have no doubt that you'll be successful. :)
