~~~~~~~
He leaned his forehead against the window sill. A leaf from the overgrown plant life brushed against his cheek with the breeze from the glassless window. From this new angle, the rays from the setting sun no longer reached his anticipating eyes.
The boy held his eyes closed, willing time to go by faster. When he opened his eyes again, he could feel the darkness creeping over his skin. His shot his head up, eyes wide. When had the sun dipped below the horizon?
To his right and left, he could hear the darkness crawling over the walls, changing the green leaves, changing the life that had grown into the abandoned house he sat in, killing what tried to survive the inevitable.
The boy jumped up, knocking the barely-standing chair to the floor. He ran out the door-less doorway to catch a glimpse of the only thing that kept him waiting until the sunset. And the only thing that kept him alive until the sunrise.
He ran through the trees, through the bushes, ignoring the thorns that scratched at his bare calves every night, ignoring the pain he felt when he stepped on a rock with his bare feet, ignoring the cold he felt soaking through the light clothing he used to cover himself.
He ran, faster than he had in a while. He made a mental note to not doze off when waiting for the sunset. Using his arms, he clawed at tree trunks as he whipped passed them, trying to give himself an extra push.
The boy hissed as he stepped on something sharp. He could feel that the skin on the bottom of his foot was cut, but he pressed on; only running faster. He could feel the darkness getting closer; he could see the shadow looming above him, chasing behind him. He needed to be quicker.
He could see the clearing in the distance, he could see a faint light that he knew would only grow brighter; he was almost there.
A few feet away, he risked a glance behind him. The trees were bare, the bark now peeling; the bushes were crumpled, cowering at the darkness; the flowers stood black, burnt so fast they didn't have time to fall. It was the light he needed, the light would save him from that outcome.
He dropped to his knees behind a still living bush, clutching his chest. He whipped himself around, watching the darkness claim more and more of the forest he called home. He curled himself into a ball, pulling himself closer to the bush, closer to the light that was slowly growing brighter in the clearing, as the the darkness came closer.
The boy pulled his bleeding foot into himself just as the darkness stopped.
He let out a breath, taking a moment to catch his breath. When he felt the warmth from the mysterious light he relied on, he got to his knees. Although he had come for so many days now, he still stayed hidden behind the bush, on the edge of where the light touched. He didn't want to taint the only beauty, the only life, to survive the darkness.
He peeked over the bush into the clearing. Before him life continued as if nothing was wrong, trees still had leaves, flowers stood tall, patiently waiting for the next rain, a bird flew to the ground, retrieving a worm for its chirping babies residing in the tree. This was why Sungmin came. Well, for this, to live through the darkness that claimed all life for the night, and for the boy who brought the light.
end.
a/n This is kind of random and was inspired by a few pictures I saw on tumblr, non of which were related to SuJu/kpop at all, I just got a splurge of inspiration, so I figured why not write something :)
This may be confusing, so I will explain it. Have you ever seen 'Silent Hill?' In that movie, when it was night time, everything changed. Everything evil came out and the only place you could stay safe was in a church(If I remember right?). There is more to it as to why that was the only safe place, but I took that idea of the darkness changing everything. In this, the darkness kills everything, and if you are caught in it, you will die as well.
It is this mysterious light that saves Sungmin every night.
Still thinking if I should make this a full one-shot or not..
