My desire to move to a quiet place in the country where I would never drive again conflicts with my love of driving. Today is pushing things to the "quiet country" end of the scale.
I-635 eastbound HOV lane, the merge from I-35, the scary one with the merge into the HOV lane, where you think something has to go wrong? Today I was in the HOV side and a [expletive deleted] driving a small van thought that they would pass me and cut me off after I'd lined up to a hole in front of them.
We now know what happens when a car strikes the temporary barriers. On the side mirror, at least. There's a soft "whap whap whap" sound like two rabbits in tupperware, and there are screams you'd like to hear during sex, too. Unfortunately, the experience itself was not sexy, and has left me unwilling to drive again today, heat or no heat.
In weirder news, we saw license plates from both Canada and Mexico today, plus various states. If this is the time to take a vacation before the summer ends, why did people decide to come HERE? (Comments about the heat, etc., did not reach these tourists at the right time.)
In more emo news, things are getting me down. I'd really like to be able to read or code for hours without my eyes and head hurting once I'm done. Yesterday's exciting marathon of programming was followed by headaches and forced avoidance of reading and computers. That doesn't leave much.
