Somehow in my mind this is a country song... Definately Randy Travis-ish, the most emo of country singers, haha.

i never thought of it as country... pretty poetic for country but the music is what makes the genre, not the words

Country singers don't use words like inebriate and intoxicate. They just say drunk. But, it is a very good whatever it is.
