The world is quiet here [Epistolary Post: timed for her whole lying-in in the trees]

Nov 27, 2013 22:13

Over the time Michelle's taken refuge at Caranthir's, she may have been impossible to find, but not contact.  Letters, notes, stories, expressions of concern, haikus, quatrains, ballads, and sonnets, can all be sent to her.

Any missive will receive a prompt response.  It's likely the one way her two tree house-mates can keep her busy.

carpe ho ras, epistolary post

It took Jack for ever to get to this. The truth is, he'd noticed the space on the board dedicated to his sister. He'd also noticed the tall, handsome, scarred thing of a man who came to pick them up and delivered replies. He'd noticed the reverence and enthusiasm with which recipients came to fetch. (He hasn't seen Jack Harkness doing it, though - not yet, at least.)

It took a while before he did it. He might even have discussed it with someone, who knows?

The letter is written in his strict military script (or so he thinks). There are no flourishes. There are no inkblots, though if anyone takes the letter onto closer examination, they will notice the most discreet little circle in one of the corners. It could be a tear. It could also be a smudge of booze.

Jack will wait a few days before getting an answer. It's highly likely she had a good cry on Mike's shoulder, before deciding what how to respond. For a brief while, she considers not answering at all.

When she does, it's far harsher than she wants it to be, and each word is carefully written, for fear of something else slipping out. As it is, she can't help but add the post script.

Jack,

I took nothing from you. All that you have lost you gave up in pursuit of something else. I will not ask if what you found made you happy. I know how you arrived.

I don't know why you give everything up. No one asked you to. I never asked you to, and now you've tried to give up your life. Of all things, Jack, I would neither want, nor ask that of you.

Do not use our father against me. I was cast from the fold after making the mistake of trusting our mother, a mother who always looked out for your best interests, rather than protecting her grandchild. Family is as much a choice as blood and you made the choice to forgo family. ( ... )

Idk whether he will respond to this or not - as is, it's unlikely. But have a reaction nonetheless.
