"If judges insist on forcing their arbitrary will upon the people, the only alternative left to the people would be the constitutional process. Our nation must defend the sanctity of marriage

agree of course, but the fact is that the majority of people are opposed to gay marriage. whether the president even really had a single independent thought about the issue is debateable.
it's just a phase of development of the country. unfortunately this is where we are stuck right now. injustice is part of every society and the emancipation of the oppressed is a really slow process. we've come a long way though. gay marriage will be legalized in our lifetime, probably within the next couple decades. it's inevitable. otherwise let's go to canada and get married just for spite.
I know theres been massive polling on the issue these last few months. I know Bush's advisors have been keeping a keen eye on it. I know even most democrats are saying they "agree on the issue" because you can't fight numbers. But it makes me hate the general public more.
I know this, and the whole illegal work program is just a bid for re-electon. Same as dodging arround last year's SOTU Adress declaring "dozens of weapons of mass destruction".
I guess things are moving forward, but I also beleive that Clinton's "Defense Of Marriage" has been perverted. Bush acts like Clinton had the same vision when I beleive Clinton's goal was to let democracy dictate the law as it should. Allow each state to decide for itself on the issue of Marriage. Thats fine, that means I can go to Mass. if I want to live in a state that doesn't discriminate, and not have to move to Ontatio. I guess the bottom line is I get a bit itchy every time I see people egar to mess with the constution.
I dont understand why people are so against gay marriages. I really dont. People are such assholes. I believe marriage is an institution that is shared by two people who are in love. Who the fuck cares if they happen to be same sexed people. I surely dont.
But every point you expressed ... I totally agree with.
And all I can simply say is...I didnt vote for him. I simply voted for Gore.
