well, im still on leave from being in hospital, so i think getting away will actually be easier. sad though, i mean testimony to the quality of the people i was working with, i plan on simply telling them the truth!

i got texts from them wishing me happy birthday, can you believe that :D

that's really nice! things are on the up and up.

looking at the photos of the horses, and the facilities, the guy looks pretty professional. I noticed that only two or three horses had blinkers on, and the bits and bridles were fairly straightforward [which to me is always a good sign = simple horse with no vices]. and the horses are in magnificent condition.

and oliver twist, and the stable pony, beautiful horses. i want me zombified oliver twist ... or maybe not.

yeah i was hoping they might be good signs! being prepared to find out all the bad sides, same as any job really. my mums horrified but mostly because of the low wages, and i think she thinks im too nice and ill do a trial on an unlimited continuing basis for no pay... yeah right!! as long as i can live im not too miffed about the pay - which i havent figured out with them yet anyways. i get the feeling they get quite a few pony girls applying without really understanding that its hard labourious work that you can only do for the love of it - and they want to weed those people out before giving them permanent jobs!

Ugh!

Hmm.. is it a stable who pays attention to the whole stomach ulcer/acid thing and either gives the horses constant feed or medication? I saw a thing on the percentage of racers who have belly pain because they're designed to be grazing animals.. sad. :/

who knows, i really hope so! im actually really anti-racing, so yeah byebye principles. now if there were any another significant horse industry in this country, id be set...

most stables space feeds out to 4 or 5 a day and have constant hay, its a pain but the only way to keep their digestion healthy. in the wild zebras spend 12-14 hours a day grazing, which means anywhere from 11 to 19 hours almost constant walking - which is how their joints receive nutrients (sucked in and out of the joint capsule with each step). so foot and joint problems show up in stabled horses to a shocking degree, too.

i took it as a good sign that they work 4am-9am, then break, then 2:30pm-4pm, so the horses are getting out and about the span of a full day. they all look in good shape, so crossed fingers - if this is one of those nightmare run them into the ground meatmarkets i will be outta there so damn fast!!
