My baby brother (I have 12 siblings!) and his friend came to see me this weekend! They are doing a semester of architecture in Rome, so it was just a 2 hour flight away.
We had fun showing them around today! AND to top it all off they brought Italy's sunshine with them, today was just beautiful outside! The nicest day I think we've had the whole year we've been here.
First we walked past Queens University as I needed a photo of the five of us in front of it for Jason's MA announcements. (Check out those sunbeams!)
Next we took a lovely stroll through the Botanic Gardens, the Palm House and Tropical Ravine were closed but we got to walk through all the paths and gardens. We even found a new path we had never seen before. Since it was morning it was so quiet and un-crowded - loved it!
Then we went to the
Botanic Art Festival, where Jarod and my brother got balloon hats!
Rebecca got a charcoal drawing of herself, which I hope makes it home ok as she wants to frame it.
There was a group there teaching circus skills and they asked Rebecca if she wanted to learn a trick, not knowing she had already learned how to use the
diabolo at her after school program. They were amazed when she stepped right up and showed off her mad skills!
Caleb rocked on the stilts!
And of course face painting!
Alex decided he wanted to be spiderman!
Just like at the Rose Garden when he was painted up like the Hulk and went nuts, this time he WAS Spiderman. He ran around slinging his web and trying to climb everything. When I tried to put him in his stroller to leave he got mad and said "Spiderman does NOT go in a buggy!"
"Flowers in her hair, flowers everywhere"
This time Jarod was the hulk and he fought with Spiderman all the way home. lol
All the people at the art festival were so talented! A good bunch of funny, sweeties that were great with the children.
Good times!
My wonderful husband took the kids home for the afternoon so that I could show our guests around town. (Thanks Jason!)
First we had fish and chips, needed some strength for our walk!
We walked past the Europa Hotel, the Grand Opera House, and the Crown Salon. I was a good little tour guide. lol
We saw a little one float parade in the city center, it actually seemed to keep popping up all around town. They must have pulled that giant rickshaw for hours.
We walked around city hall, under The Belfast Wheel, stopped by the Tourist Building, and then went to
Saint Anne's Chruch.
Then we went to another church that I can't remember the name of. So funny walking around with these boys as they would point at something and say "Wow look at that!"
and I'd be all "What...I don't see anything? That red building there?"
"Yes, those lines on that building, see how they cruve something something and look at the angle of that something something."
lol - architects see things so different!
Let's see, we also went to the central library, past the Albert Clock, and down to the waterfront. At this point I was beginning to wear out, I can't keep up with the young folk anymore!
We went up in the Victoria Dome, a fitting end to our walk as the view is amazing.
Whew. I was soooooo tired! I *almost* called a cab halfway home because I did not think I was going to make it. lol
We came home just in time for dinner and a nap!
And now Jason is out with the boys on a pub crawl while I put the kids to bed...and then I am going to bed too, for tomorrow we are going on an underground city tour and to a vintage fair!
