Fondue!!!!!!!

I've mentioned that my MIL has every kitchen gadget known to man, and I do mean everything! If you've seen it on TV, she has it. Spaghetti thingy with the lid colander - check. French bread warmer basket - check. Taco Bar tray in the shape of a sombrero - check. Hamburger shaped condiment thing - check. Fajita thingy, kabob maker, rice steamer, bread maker, assortment of crock pots, apple slicer, eclectic potato peeler, magic bullet, smoothie maker, blizzard maker....the list goes on and on. It's quite impressive.

Today she dug out a fondue pot from the early 80s, so Rebecca, Alex, and I went to the store and got all the makings for a lovely fondue party! Which turned out really nice because it started to snow, so these nice huge flakes were falling the whole time we were nice and snug inside chowing down on fondue. Everything was wonderful and tasted great, we mixed and matched and of course some people had to try deep frying everything on the table. (Fried bananas - good. Fried strawberries - bad.)

The ole fondue pot - just needed a good scrub and it was as good as new!

I decided to do a pizza cheese sauce, hot oil for frying, and a chocolate sauce. We had fun deciding what to chop up to use as dippers.

The pizza cheese sauce went in the fondue pot.

I poured in a jar of pizza sauce and then added mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan cheese. It was delicious!

Items for the pizza cheese dip - tried to keep a pizzaish theme. Lots of the items ended up getting fried and were then dipped in cheese!

Peperoni, green pepper, mushrooms, sausage, and olives

Italian bread, vegetarian peperoni, tofu, steamed carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower.

Variety of meats and dips for the hot oil, which we put in a fry daddy.

Chocolate sauce! A can of condensed milk and semi-sweet baker's chocolate....perfection. We put this in a little crock pot.

Our chocolate dippers, strawberries, bananas, apples, and pumpkin pound cake.

Everything on the table! A lot of work but so worth it!

Fondue is fun!
Everyone loaded up their skewers with their favorite items, had grandpa cook it in the hot oil, and then dipped away. Deep fried tofu is awesome. Lots of veggies and meats for everyone! Some even deep fried the olives. (Deep fried bread is not awesome.) My favorite was the Italian bread dipped in the cheese and the strawberries and chocolate.

Jason ruined my strawberry shot. lol

I recommend that everyone have a fondue party with your kids, they adore it, and it's a great way to get them to eat veggies.! You don't even need a fondue pot, just a fry daddy and a crock pot it all you need. Or if you need it to be healthier you don't even need to deep fry anything - just dipping is entertaining.

After dinner Alex and I went on a run around the property to burn off some of the fondue calories. It was snowing outside but no wind so wasn't too cold, was pretty for sure.
