So I have been paying attention to the interests of both guys and girls in music. Now mind you, I only have surveyed Americans, as they make up most of the internet people I can talk to, so music genres range from Pop to Hardcore....ignoring classical, arabic, (other cultures for the most part). Some women are good and or liked that don't especially flaunt themselves: Avril Lavigne, Amy Lee, Celine Dion, Norah Jones, Charlotte Church, Sarah Brightman, etc. I agree with you that male artist are generally prefered but there's nothing like the sound of clear female vocals. Some favorites of mine: Tatu (not the popular hits--their other stuff,) Amy Lee, Sarah Brightman, Tanya Bulanova, Cecilia Vennersten, Antigone Rising...

completely flaunts herself. I have seen her music video. But I think you missed the point. I am not saying there are not good singers or whatever, I am saying they are a minority group, and not well-liked.

AH. I saw Avril live (I don't watch TV much though so I was only basing my opinion on that) and she was boring and not at all flaunting herself. I'm sure you are right though.

personally i'd rather listen to some girl anyday, male voices just don't do it for me, it has to take something pretty damn special, then again i'm not your typical listner...
