Found out today that Queen's "Flash" is the anthem for those who want Apple to support Adobe's Flash format. I'm kind of amused and disgusted, mostly because I didn't think of it first.

He's for every one of us!
Stands for every one of us!
He'll save with a mighty hand every man, every woman, every child, he's a marvel -- Flash!

"Dispatch war rocket Ajax to bring back his body".

Actually, I rather like the way the uncertainty is pushing HTML5 video and audio tags as an alternate for media.

There are a couple nice things about Flash, but since I'm not a fan of closed web media, I'll go with the nice ability to sync events (matching audio and visual effects closely, for instance). Otherwise, the lack of it might have a silver lining in pushing more open and standard based sites.

(Silver lining... it still stinks that they locked Flash out of their platforms).

Haha, that line does undermine their position a bit.

Yeah, in reality I'm not sure how I feel about HTML 5 and friends. I haven't tried to work with them at all. But my intuition doesn't think Flash can win. Apple's got such a good position _right now_ that it makes sense to work on the open alternatives just for Apple device support. HTML 5 doesn't even have to be good. It just has to be barely workable, I think.
