I had a nice break for the long weekend. I actually feel much better now -- hard to say why exactly. More myself, I suppose, even though I've never regarded a shortage of identity among my weaknesses

I got my apartment to change the breaker for the stove when it wasn't getting hot enough. Then, it turned out the problem was actually in the old aluminum wires (Kaiser Aluminum I think it was) going to the outlet instead and they replaced them with copper. I was also impressed with how the maintenance guy pulled the old wires out of the outlet (and pulled the new wires in at the same time). He wrapped them around a 2x4 and put the end of the 2x4 on the stove as a second order lever.
Interesting. Yeah, I wouldn't really expect the breaker to have enough resistance to limit current like that, although an electric stove strikes me as quite the thing.
As a cook, and ServSafe certified, most things are not good after about a week, especially without refrigeration. "Nuking" it won't kill the bacteria, especially if it's been allowed to grow bacteria without 5 days of refrigeration.
Personally though, while any number of bacterias could make you violently ill, I have a pretty strong stomach. The most I've ever had was a rumbley stomach. That doesn't mean I would recommend eating stuff past their expiration date.
Oh, that wasn't a reference to microwaves. ("Aliens" quote.) But yeah, I threw out almost everything. I kept stuff that didn't actually need refrigeration, like peanut butter. And some pickles. Ate one, tasted fine, felt fine.
