Same thing happened in my town with the budget spending - both two years ago when the funding for a new school came up, and this year, when the town budget that was finally accepted called for a major funding cutback in the school system. I blame it on crotchety old people. There is absolutely nothing better to put tax dollars into than education.

It actually passed so at least there are more people who don't mind spending the extra couple bucks on education, but still. Not to be partisan but my bet is 90 percent of the no votes were Republicans.
