And still those voices are calling from far away...

The Nexus portal spits you out (Not literally! That would be gross. Although, now they're planning that for next year...) at the gates to an old, renovated, Japanese castle. The normally clean and well kept castle gates are left hanging open and are draped with spiderwebs. The path leading away from the gate and toward the castle is lined with ( Read more... )

And tonight the first person to come into the scarey Halloween setting is Jubilation Lee, dressed as Lulu from Final Fantasy. And if you think the sounds and effects would scare this determined mutant from getting candy, you are sadly mistaken. For she braves through it all, to get to her candy goal.

"Mmmmm candy..."

"Why hello there, fearless traveler." Alison grins at Jubilee. It's been a while.

As Alison approaches with the apple tray, the monkey curls his tail around his perch and uses it to anchor himself. He dangles over the cauldron and grabs a handful of candy to toss into Jubilee's treat pail. Of course, being a pygmy marmoset, his handful is more like two or three pieces. He tries! And his efforts net Jubes a miniature Hershey's bar, two mini peanut butter cups, and a small bag of pumpkin spice gumdrops.

"Apple?" Alison grins and holds the try out. What's Halloween without a candied apple?

One or two pieces are just fine with Jubes, she shouldn't have too many sweets in one evening after all. "Ohhh did you make these yourself?" She asks, taking a candied apple.

"Indeed, I did. These are caramel. And the other half are toffee. Pick whichever you prefer." She smiles. "Haven't seen you around in a while, Jubilee. How've things been?"

June is a hummingbird this year! All green and white and shiny, with a long 'beak' over her mouth and nose.

She's also carrying a pumpkin pail, and hovers along the path, looking around. Whoever lives here really worked hard on the atmosphere, and judging from her awed expression, they've done an excellent job.

Then she sees the monkey, and her eyes light up.

"Oh, hi!" Waving to him, she chirps, "Happy Halloween! ♪"

Does she think he's the one in charge here? Stranger things have happened.

The monkey may very well be in charge! He certainly seems to think so. He waves at June from his upside down position and makes a few squeaking noises of welcome.

"He says 'hello'," Alison provides helpfully as she steps up with the plate of apples. For his part, the monkey is dipping candy out of the cauldron with his tiny paws and tossing the pieces into June's bucket.

"Would you like a caramel or toffee apple?"

She giggles, bobbing up and down in a polite little bow.

"Hello! Trick or treat! ♥" Another little laugh, then she adds, "Oooh, I'd love a caramel apple, Miss Red! ♥"

"Caramel it is!" Alison holds one out to June. "You have such a cute costume. I love humming birds. And it's good for Halloween since they love sweet things so much, huh?"

A little girl slowly wended her way through all the show and dazzle. Sometimes with uncertain and leaden feet. For some of the music was certainly spooky. Some of the headstones not so much since she knew who they were written about. She's dressed up like her step-mother in X-Men uniform for some reason. White bangs and everything.

She held up an empty pillow case. "I'm hungry! I mean, trick or treat!"

She does not have the Southern accent unfortunately.

Alison laughs delightedly and kneels down a little awkwardly to hug little 'Rogue'. "Happy Halloween, miss Rogue. Are you enjoying your candy gathering?"

While they're talking, Mapanos starts tossing candy pieces into the pillow case. It may be a few pieces more than usual, but he knows the smell of this small one. She brings him fruit sometimes!

"How about an apple to go with the candy?" Alison offers the plate.

Gloria Jean hugged Alison with one hand and deftly held her pillowcase out for the little marmoset to toss in those extra pieces of candy. "Yes. Dad says I will have cavities for the next seven Halloweens! But all the X-Men people were nice and filled up two pillowcases already!"

She eyed the plate and picked out a caramel apple. "Apples are gooder for me than candy."

Though she was blithely ignoring the caramel coating. "Oh! You haven't seen my complete costumer yet!"

Not that she had had any of her haul yet. Her brothers were probably still fighting over it while her step-mother hid it away. She turned to a dark shape walking around in the graveyard. It may have been lurking. Or just making sure his own name wasn't on any of the tombstones.

"C'mere!" Gloria Jean waved her father over while bouncing on the balls of her feet. When he finally shuffled over clad in t-shirt and jeans, she promptly handed him her pillow case and held his hand. "See? Complete costume."

"That's alright. I know you'll brush your teeth real well before bed tonight." Alison winked at Gloria Jean. "And wow... that's a lot of candy. Careful you don't get a tummy ache."

"Oh, I see. A complete set!" Alison grinned at Dakota. "Nice costume. Want an apple?"

If he ducks in time, he will avoid the mini chocolate bar the monkey has lobbed in his direction. It's Halloween! Candy must be handed out!

Longshot eventually made his way out of the castle. He rolled his shoulders a bit and headed toward the carriage house. He had picked out this costume after watching one too many cheesy late-night moves. His Haha had actually explained what his outfit resembled a little. He didn't mind as it only applied to Alison.

He hadn't seen his wife's outfit yet. Though he had heard her cackling about it.

The marmoset saw Longshot first. He hopped down from his perch and bounced around excitedly at his favorite human's feet.

It was a good thing Alison wasn't carrying her tray of apples when she wandered back over. She'd have dropped the lot of them. And never noticed. Or cared.

Wow...

"Hello there, good looking. What brings you to my lair?" She couldn't help looking him over a time or two as she walked over to him. Yeah. Wow.

Longshot grinned. He noticed her eyes kept going right to his belly. So he flexed his muscles a little. Since she was looking and all.

"Well, I came looking for a gorgeous mama. Think I found her. Though she had less points sticking out of her head..."

He eyed his wife's ensemble.

Alison grinned and turned in a circle to show off her costume. Everything was sparkly. There was even a pointy tail pinned to the back of her pants that swung around when she walked.

"I'm a hot mama!" She wiggled her butt to make the tail swing and then turned back to face him. "I think you out-did me, though. You're much, much hotter..."
