I have to say don't give him a chance. If he couldn't be there for the first twenty years, there's no reason he should be allowed to be there for the next sixty. I know it's tough, but ultimately the decision is up to you. I'm always here, Maddie, if you need someone to talk to. It's been too damned long, girl. I can't tell you what you should do, but I can say what I choose. I choose a life free of my dad. He couldn't keep his mouth shut, so I stopped listening completely. Sometimes I still wish I had a father but never him. I don't know if this helps, but I'm sure you'll make the right decision for yourself.

It does help, except with my father it was the other way around- I would try to talk and he would never listen.
