oh. my. god.
when you lost your work initially, did you do the long pause followed by hyperventilating and bawling?

because even though i have both bawled and hyperventilated in my life, there is a very specific combination of the two which only arises after a paper/project has been lost.

im glad kyle is one with the computer because this was traumatic for me to even read.

Pretty much that exactly, yes. Though I did manage to hold it together until I got out of the computer lab and into the bathroom and on the phone with my mother. And then I was sobbing like a freaking newborn and I didn't even care, I was like "IT'S ALL GO-HAW-HAW-HAWNNNNNN" and my mother was like "*cellphonepats*" and it was crazy.

PS: im honestly surprised that most institutions have not introduced some sort of "computer technicality" guideline into their rulebooks.

there have honestly been times where "...why isnt the file opening" situations have happened, and _nobody_ gives in the administration gives a shit in the least.

Seriously! There should be a clause like that, though then again, in the real world, if you lose your huge amount of work the day before the big presentation, you still look bad to the boss and everyone, regardless of any technology clause.
