stupid bike frame won't hold the saddle post tightly. Even with a spacer in there it's too loose. Yet it's definitely not a 31.6 tube, because I just tried that. It's somewhere in between, which means that I'm just going to have deal with a loose seat

Hey, don't sell yourself short. Being patient and interested and talking to the kids like they are people too may not be sufficient to make someone a good father, but it is necessary.
