He should have given you a theme folder (and possibly some plugins), which would make for an easy install. (Stick theme folder in themes folder. Enable theme. Enable appropriate plugins. Voila.)
Where are you supposed to import this XML file? I work in wordpress all the time, and I have no clue what he's talking about.
Make him do it. Change your FTP password, and make him do it. Then change it back. Because since you're paying him, he should be able to either do it or give you extremely detailed instructions for how to do it. "import the XML file" MY ASS

This won't set your theme or any custom plugins. You'll need to do that manually. It's just your posts and settings.

My posts and settings are not the part I'm interested in. Menus, theme, setup, etc. is. The posts and settings on the work site are all greeked.
