I haven't been able to keep up with it as much because the internet at work is so slow. And reading anything in Chinese about it would prove too difficult..

Just emailed Jessica & Akira and talked to Johnny last night..

You know a lot more people with a history of radiation exposure than I do. The closest person I know was a cousin of my mothers' who was studying in Russia in a town about 30km from Chernobyl and was evacuated. Just one of the infamous events during the year of our birth; another being the Challenger explosion. Woohoo. I don't know if the world is going to end in 2012, but even if it does, there's little I can do about it but continue to live my life as best I can. But maybe that is because I have already come to terms with the likelihood that I will see little (positive) social, political or environmental change within my lifetime. A sad thing to think at 24, maybe.

I wish all the best for your friends and for Japan. That country has been through a lot and its resilience always astonishes me.

I think there will be change in our lifetimes. I still have hope.
