Yesterday, I walked with Sheldon over to his conference site which is located in Peace Park. The park is located on an island adjacent to the hypocenter of the blast on August 6, 1945 at 8:15. I got used to using the squatty potties in China. When they are ceramic and flush like that, they're fine and I actually prefer them to our sit-upon toilets. But when they're just an open slot over an outhouse hole that's been in use for maybe 500 years, it's not so fun.
Those little curtains over the doors are supposed to keep the flies out, I thought ... I could be wrong. When I part them as I walk in, I always feel like Toshiro Mifune in a Kurosawa movie.
