i'm sort of the same way, im not afraid of spiders, mice, or any of those things either, yet i am extremely scared of/repulsed by centipedes. once i went through a 30-minute+ adventure of trying to get rid of one (because no one else was awake to do it) that included trying to trap it under a garbage, throwing a newspaper at it, then finally pouring water all over the bathroom floor, since i didn't want to risk actually touching it. it really does make you feel a little ridiculous. ;)

I'm not afraid of centipedes; I'm afraid of a certain sort of centipede. The zombie kind. It took me two hours to kill one once. I squished it with a flute case, crutches, books, boxes, all sorts of containers, EVERYTHING. It was even running around and continuing its evil after I cut it into three pieces.
