Dan has always loved Serena, even from the very beginning.
He never thought he could have her, but now that he does he knows there isn't any going back. Once you know Serena there isn't much you can do after that except adore her.
Of course, Dan has always had this strange idea in the back of his head-the logical part-that she isn't all she's cracked up to be.
He gets to know her and only loves her more, but he knows that there are many things about Serena that he will never understand and perhaps never wants to know.

Title: An Exercise in the Dark Arts
Fandom: Harry Potter
Character/Pairing: Tom/Bellatrix
Rating & Word Count: PG; 116 words

Tom considers the scene, which is the work of his pupil, Bellatrix. She is young - very young. Though admittedly, she has considerable talent for this craft.
Talent alone is not enough, however.
Bellatrix - her wand still fixed on the man - looks up at Tom with eager anticipation, awaiting his verdict. His is the voice that matters.
“Next time, Bella,” he says finally, his manner somewhat detached, “Try not to make such a mess.”
Reverential, she bows humbly. She will not fail him.
