Best. Game. Ever.

So I went to the Mariner's game today. They played the Reds in the last of a 3 game series and had each won a game. The important thing about it being the Reds however was that it brought Griffey to town for possibly the only time in his post-Mariner career (it will probably be 6 years before they come here again and he may easily be retired by ( Read more... )

You remind me that there are multiple definitions of the term "perfect game."

Saw highlights of the Griffey-honoring ceremony (Friday pregame) on Sportscenter, and wondered if that was the game you were going to. So glad it was this one instead.

I saw my first live suicide squeeze this year too. And it was the difference in the game... guess that's usually the case, they make or break you.

Did you play it cool on Junior's homers? Were you reclined in your chair, or were you throwing your turn-the-clock-forward hat up in the air?

I applauded while sitting and the hat remained on the head for both of them. I applauded the first one because it started my list off nicely. But I had a bigger reaction thinking Willie had caught it. The second one was a towering shot off the sign below the cafe. A classic Griffey homer - hard not to applaud that after 6 years.

During the squeeze, I saw Bettie running during the wind-up and jumped up yelling "It's a squeeze!!" and was cheering before he even crossed the plate because it worked so well they didn't even try for him.

And Greg and I both walked up out of the suite to look around (and down on the bar in club level) during the dancing (w/kids) and easily returned to our seats in time for the next pitch. Even more perfect.

I had forgotten about dancing. No, forgotten is the wrong word - "blocked out" is the right one. Nice to have the suite setup for quick escapes from the shenanigans.

The Rivercats equivalent, annoyance-wise, are the "River Kitties," a group of 3-6 year old girls dressed up as cheerleaders doing silly dances. Very Jon Benet.

Chris Snelling ("Doyle!") is an A now... been seeing him in the dugout as he's on minor league rehab.
