I usually read sci-fi but I enjoy other genres. Has anyone read, or is reading "The Garden of Last Days" by Andre Dupres? If so, do you like it? I'm trying to line up my summer reading, I might get "1408" or "The House of Sand and Fog."

Escape velocity formula (really!) is: 1/2 mv2 = GMm/R

Where    m=mass of my dirt-bike,
     M= earth_Mass,    G=gravitational constant,    R = radius of the earth,
     and v is the escape velocity of my dirt-bike when throttle is on full.

For Earth day, I bicycled to work instead of taking the T, I refused to print out ANYTHING at work on the printer. This is difficult, I do a lot of complex configuration changes and log-line alalysis - the sharpie - arrows and highlighters help me to conceptualize complex solutions. I let the power CONSUME me... yes, had the motorcycle out again yesterday, what a nice day for riding (some wet roads, but mostly dry.) I lean hard over and pass a car (safely) on the left on the straightaway near Community College... the Beast shifts smoothly through the gears, throttle pinned. JOY!!

Went to writing class all day on Saturday, but couldn't sit still and coudn't write well at all. My brain was not behaving, could not concentrate. In like four hours, I wrote just one real story and it was 1000 words, my first one flopped completely (250 words) and even that story wasn't serious enough, lacked depth and was weak in vocabulary.

Taking a day or two off from work and it feels pretty good! Visiting some relatives as The Triad and it's gone very well. We took care to not talk about politics. We worked a 1000 piece crossword puzzle that right now maddenly has only about 40 pieces left but they are the hardest of all, the ones with all solid color of the blue sky ( Read more... )
