Edward and I are so happy that you're going to be staying with us this weekend. I'm sure he'll write to you himself later today, but I wanted to apologise to you for the fact that Fiammetta hasn't replied to your letter, because I found it in my purse five minutes ago when she asked me why she didn't have it yet. Please forgive me. Things have been a little mad around here. Hadrian's friend Endymion is going to be living with us from now on.
We know all about Hadrian's plans. He and Endymion should be back from visiting the Malfoys tonight or tomorrow so we will let them tell you all about the plans themselves.
Edward sends his love. I'd ask if there's anything special you'd like me to make Saturday night, but I have to confess I'm still learning about British food even though we've lived here a while and I can't guarantee what'll be in the stores these days. Luckily your father and brother don't mind eating what I eat, although your brother does fuss if he can't get his kippers of a morning! (I think they're vile, but don't tell him.)
I know your mother is not very happy about Hadrian's plans and she will be less so to learn that Edward and I support them. But she needs to remember that no matter what young Mr Dashwood may or may not have done he is only sixteen and he has made a very big commitment to your brother and to this family. She also needs to remember that Hadrian and Endymion have been friends since they were five, so that even if the Warringtons hadn't forced anyone's hand, it is unwise to believe that a friendship so deep will be destroyed by mere disapproval. I truly feel for your mother. Edward has put her through some very difficult things and I know that I have not helped. But she mustn't allow that to come between herself and Hadrian, because none of this is his fault or yours or Susie's or Fia's. We are the adults and we will take any blame that is going to be taken.
