There is something to be said for the Preventers, Zechs thinks to himself as he picks up a new pen, and that is that whatever else may change, the paperwork always stays constant. Zechs doesn't even look up at the noise. Not that he's had so many visitors that he's used to it, he's simply engrossed in the task at hand.

'Come!' he calls, shaking his hair back out of his face and impaling another memo on his new 'filing cabinet.'

The door opens a fraction; a braid swings in. Duo pokes his head around the corner.

"Yo! I came to drop..." He trails off. "Wicked weapon you've got there, but did your paperwork really deserve that?"

...

"Wait, stupid question. I salute you!"

'Good afternoon, Maxwell,' Zechs replies, then blinks. 'Weapon? Paperwork?' It's then that he notices the paper-festooned cactus, now much brighter with its little bits of 'fill-this-out-in-triplicate-and-keep-this-colour-copy.'

'Ah.' He blinks again, this time at the object in question. 'Unintentional, I assure you. However...' He moves the cactus to the centre of the desk. 'I believe I shall let this lot linger for a while, to serve as an example to the rest of it.' Not that it will help, of course, but he does have to admit that it makes him feel just a bit better. Zechs sits back in his chair and looks at his guest.

'Now... What did you come to see me about?'
