In which our heroine decides that a cold shower or five is a good lesson in being an adult.

I've been meaning to post for weeks. But then, I always say that, don't I? However, I think I'll be able to keep up with slightly more regular posting thanks to my easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy job at BlackRockTechnically, it's a temp-to-hire - but since most of the "Corporate Services" staff (basically the reception/facilities management people like ( Read more... )

gosh i miss lj! im stealthily lj-ing from work (even though i certainly have plenty of work i should be doing), so i haven't read your post thoroughly, but hopefully will later. just want to say that $25/wk for a dog walker is dirt cheap and your dad should stfu. i mean, mind his own business. a professional dog walker charges more like $15 a walk (i think).. so having a trustworthy younger neighborhood person to pay is totally worth it. I'd pay $25/wk for a kid to walk my dog in a heartbeat. good for the dog and nice for the kid to get to earn some ( ... )

Thanks for your support (and offer of hot showers!) - as always you are always ready with an offer to help, and I've never forgotten what a sweetheart you are! Like the Golden Girls say, "Thank you for being a friend!" :D

As for alternate commutes, there's one other route even remotely near me. It's an extra 2 blocks away downtown, and an extra 2 blocks home (I walk 4 each way, for a total of 16 blocks/day). Trouble is, the OBA app isn't working so I can't tell which bus is coming when, and I've already had days where I missed one walking to the other! When bad weather comes, I might use the P&R under the WS Bridge, as it will be all covered, and get me to work around the same time (half the actual bus-commute time though, if that makes sense). So we shall see! :)

also i like your subject line :) you can totally come over to my house to take a hot shower or do laundry anytime you want, though my guess is that the half hr drive up to north seattle wouldnt really make it worth it ;)

"I've had the rug yanked out from under so many times in the last ~5-6 months that it's getting very hard to trust the future."

I sympathize with this so very much. 2012 has been one big "Wait..what??!" for me and I still don't feel stable. So I just wanted to give you some support, some kudos for handling things as well as you are, and say a big fat "Me too" on many points. :)

so, i've sent you some job listings from our office before, but now i'm thinking you wouldn't really like working here: this office takes "casual" to whole new levels... levels that even i am offended by at times. seriously, dressing up here is if someone wears jeans and real shoes here (as opposed to shorts or yoga pants and flip flops). ;)

it has gotten better now that we've grown and have more execs here and stuff, but a couple years ago, some people would come in wearing basically pajamas.... THAT was bad.

I am pretty happy in a jeans and sweater place, but lets keep that to REAL clothes people... no pj pants in public!! esp not at work!! ahhh ;)
