I usually feel the schadenfreude rush when smarmy Republicans and/or fundamentalist wackos are caught practicing something dramatically different than what they preach (Governor Appalachian Trail was a guilty pleasure of mine for a good week!) These deranged anti-gay crusaders, though, just make me feel profoundly sad. I'm pretty sure almost all of them are actually broken, repressed gay people. No heterosexual man could be as obsessed with gay sex as these guys are. Casual homophobes, sure, and those who are anti-gay in passing as part of an overall package of bigotry. But the anti-gay crusaders seem like gay people who have mental illnesses from being brainwashed into believing they and everyone else like them is inherently evil and must be punished every time they have a thought.
It's an ugly vicious cycle, and it's sad and depressing. :-(
